Hi, I’m Kelsey Wright

MSW/RSW

Experience: I have 15 years of experience working in the mental health and addictions field, and my professional and personal experiences have provided me extensive insight into my work with clients. What has helped shape me into the counsellor I am today is my own process of healing. While I believe we are never fully done with this process, the same tools which helped me to grow, I am passionate about sharing with my clients.

Holistic Approach: I believe in the strong link between our minds and bodies. My goal is to nurture this bond for better healing. Western culture tends to emphasize our thoughts a lot, which is important. But noticing and bringing in tools that work with our somatic and emotional experiences are just as, if not more, important.

Therapeutic Tools: Beyond traditional talk therapy, I offer a range of techniques, including Mindfulness, IFS, ACT, CBT, and EMDR to address your needs effectively.

Qualifications: I hold an MSW (Master of Social Work) with a Collaborative Specialization in Addictions Studies from the University of Toronto, and a BA (Bachelor of Arts) in Psychology from the University of British Columbia.

Additional Trainings:

  • EMDR Training (Levels 1 and 2)

  • EMDR 2.0 Training

  • EMDR Advanced Training for Complex PTSD

  • Somatic Parts Training (Levels 1 and 2)

Safe Space and Transformative Change: Your comfort and trust are paramount. I provide a non-judgmental environment where you can explore your challenges freely. I aim to help facilitate meaningful change in your life, empowering you to find resilience and well-being.

Community Involvement: Outside of sessions, I work with a local health authority's mental health clinic, staying connected to broader community needs. I facilitate several community groups focused on harm-reduction approaches for drinking and substance use concerns.

Personal Interests: I enjoy exploring the outdoors with my favourite people and my dog, Buffy, in the beautiful Sea to Sky region. I love to bike, hike, climb, and snowboard, and I am always looking for a new swim spot.
